Dr. Joie Lea MURORUNKWERE born August 15, 1981, in Rwanda is a Mathematical Scientist, senior researcher, and consultant, Is completing her PhD in statistics from Arkansas State University(USA), and received her master's degree in APPLIED STATISTICS at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2013. She graduated with an Honours degree (Biostatistics) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), and a bachelor's degree (Mathematics and Physics) in Education from the University of Rwanda in 2008. Currently, she is a full Lecturer of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Tourism and Business Studies. She is an experienced Business Advisor with a demonstrated history of working in the banking industry, Hotel management, and education. She has extensive experience in curriculum development, Training scientific development, and Training of Trainers in teaching science (Mathematics and Physics) using technology. Joie Lea has accomplished various educational-related assignments in various organizations private and public such as the Women in Science Development and Science Diplomacy framework in Rwanda. While studying for her bachelor’s degree she played in the Women's volleyball team from 2003 to 2007. In 2005 as President of the Women's Association of Kigali Institute of Education (WSAKIE) Lea founded a women's football team. Her passion for sports led her to join the volleyball referee courses in 2008 and since then she has been one of the few female national volleyball referees. Thanks to her experience and her passion in sports she was among the founders of Triathlon in Rwanda and serves as the second vice president as well as Triathlon Coach Level I.
